I have meant to write this up for a long time, but struggled to properly mark each pieces. So please bear with the very rough copy of this tutorial. I promise I will come back and make it better.
Before you start, take a look at all the pieces:
- Front panel of the skirt, and it has top/nice/surface/right side and the under/”wrong” side.
- Back panel of the skirt, and it also has top and “wrong” side.
- Top piece of the pocket, where the back of your hand touches when you put your hand inside the pocket.
- Bottom piece of the pocket, where your palm touches when you put your hand in. This panel, if desired, should match the front panel fabric, as it would be visible.
An important note is that only an invisible zipper would work.
Line the zipper and the back panel of the skirt properly. The surface of the back panel of the skirt should be on the same side as the zipper tab.
Sew the one side of the zipper to the back panel of the skirt.
Please note that the “b” in the photo denotes the back panel of the skirt and it is sewn on “wrong” side of the skirt panel(not on the surface).
Sew the other side of the zipper to the pocket bottom piece.
Make sure the top/surface side of the pocket bottom piece and back panel are on the same side as the zipper tab.
Sew the top piece of the pocket to the front panel of the skirt.
The right sides of the pocket piece and the front panel should face each other.
Sew the pocket top and bottom pieces together.
This would be a little tricky. Be patient.
